What You Can Do To Care for Your Rugs
Although we suggest that you have your carpets cleaned periodically by a professional, there are a few things that you can do to extend the life of your rug.
The first step involves vacuuming- just like carpets. By vacuuming weekly, you prevent dirt and grime from embedding into the fibers of your rug. Also, vacuum the underside of your rug a few times a year. The second step is to sweep your rug. Most rugs, like hardwood floors, are hard surfaces, so by sweeping often, you reduce dust and dirt that gathers on top of the rug. We recommend using a non-slip pad to prevent scratching and damaging the surface underneath the rug. This also helps preventing the rug from sliding out from underneath someone. Lastly, if something spills on your rug, be sure that the rug and the surface underneath the rug are completely dry before putting it back onto the floor.
Types of Rugs
There are many different types of rugs as well as a wide variety of materials used to make them. Some of the most common materials are natural such as wool. However, synthetic materials such as acrylic fibers make up our rugs. There is also a wide variety of colorings and dyes in rugs. Because of this, it is important to have a professional cleaner inspect your rug before cleaning it.
Area rugs come in many different shapes, sizes, and materials. However, the most expensive rugs are Persian and Oriental rugs. Although they may sound similar, the difference between them is quite interesting. Oriental rugs come from countries in Asia, while Iran makes Persian Rugs. Because Persian rugs come from Iran, they are also considered oriental rugs.
